Only Premium links

Recommended Posts

Staff should be serious about downloadable topics with links downloadable with ONLY premium links. I feel all those posts should have at last ONE SET of links downladable by a free option. I is really annoying to find some material you only can get from hoster with a premium account. Take note that I have no intention to get a premium account of some particular hoster just becaue a user-hostile poster wants to gain money through my subcription! INever have done it in the past and won't do it in the future.

I feel this procedure goes against the essence of a forum, converting it in the instrument of the personal commercial adventure of some members

We do not allow premium only links on new posts and any that are here are old posts that have usually had the free ones removed because they were dead links. Our rules do clearly say must include a free to download link.

# 3.4 ALL externally hosted files MUST have a 'freely available' option without the need for Premium Accounts, completing surveys or assorted hoop-jumping. This also means ensuring file sizes are within the limits specified by any Hosting Site you upload to. Larger files requiring Premium access may only be shared providing a 'free' option has been given.

We cannot delete posts just because they fail to meet the new rules that only came into effect on the rebirth of the forum. They will, however, get deleted as the links die off and as they are old posts that will happen much quicker than more recent ones.

Haven't seen any premium only links and as a pensioner cannot afford any of the premium sites!

The other problem is that many of the servers [or the posters?] have included adware/spyware or just plain viruses in their files.

One must ask - Why?

One must ask - Why?

Main reason: People do not check their files (when I say say "their" files I use the term very loosly) when they post . People find links and just re post them. There are not that many uploaders in the "warez" world compared to people who post links they find laying around the World Wild Web. Most are just wanting to share what they have found. In my opinion, You as a downloader should always check your files to make sure you are safe. Never rely on any uploader/poster. The only way to to stay the safest, is to find a dedicated Uploader like we have here at Cyberphoenix. Still, you need to ALWAYS check your files with an Updated antivirus program. I always checked my files when I uploaded, but even I had a few dirty files get through. If I found I had posted a dirty file I always went back and killed the links and posted that the file was dirty. On the other side, you need to understand many cracks and keygens will show up as infected, when in fact they are not. This is called a "false positive". Many times they show up just because of the way the .exe file was repacked. So, in short, think of downloading free software like a "One Night Stand". Unless you really know the person practice safe sex. You never really know what diseases the other person might be carrying, hell they might not even know.

If you find something that is premium links only and you don't have an account with that particular filehost, just post a request for what you want, that way you won't need to worry about it :)

Thank you for your reply and it's good to know rules were updated. Actually I've ecountered this issue in latest days of CW and just when I wanted to make a post about this issue, the forum was closed down.

Lots of cracks and keygens have a tendency to show up on the antivirus as infected or viruses and stuff. These are usually false positives so its kinda safe to ignore them when they pop up. However its at your own risk, I cannot promise you they're all just false positives. There are idiots in the world.

One thing to look for when your av shows a virus, is the name for the virus. If it lists just a generic name, then it might be a false positive. If it has a specific name then delete it. If it is a keygen and has a virus or false positive you can still use it. Just run it in Sandboxie. Sandboxie will contain it safely to run it on your computer.

Re: premium links  ...

I understand the finacial incentives of uploaders in using various servers that perhaps pay out better than a free server.

Having said that, any server that is free but gives me speeds of 76 kbps and it will take me 16 days to DL the file I immediately reject . After a while you know exactley what servers give decent speeds to free users and when you can't find them on one site ...you will on another.

Putlocker and 180uploads come to mind and fast free servers.

Just sayin' ...

First off, I wish again to give my compliments to Darko for his balanced, informative and beautifully expressed reply. Chapeau!

Second, I remember, in my old days, that forums and the whole WWW was based on a spirit of collaboration, sharing, teaching, helping... in a word: giving.

I don't think that those times are obsoletes as we still come here with the hope to find something 'free', offered with generosity. Generosity that will fuel our own generosity, pushing us to give in exchange. And the uploaders are not the only one that are giving. In fact, my compliments to Darko are exactly for this very reason: I have found the same ol' generous spirit in his reply, with respect and compassion (that is not a bad word) added as a good measure.

I understand that there is a need for money that become more and more pressing, but I also understand that there are platforms created for this. I mean personal blog or the like, where peoples may offer software in exchange of premium accounts. But not in a forum like this one, where there is a philosophy based on friendship and collaboration that is really evident. Take a look at the Shoutbox and you will find many incipt that may push you to simply find a friend. And I mean someone that is able to 'give you' something for free, just for the pleasure that 'giving' gives back.

So, even if I agree with voxx1, and the necessity to search for 'good' free servers, I think that we may do something more. I've already proposed the creation of some kind of Usenet tutorial, I may also suggest a simple .torrent search for the title that may be so interesting in that moment, or the simple Google with a search made with the post titles.

This is what I do when i find 'impossible' situations like the ones that voxx1 prospected.

I think that Cyberphoenix has all the possibility to become a very famous place, and I also think that the only way to achieve this is to start to give, then give, and finally give again. In this way, we may really stand up as 'different' from everyone else on the net.

Thanks for the info.   I have also read about the Sandboxie that Darko put in............never heard of it before so will try it.

Although I am a pensioner I have now bought a premium account on one server.   Limits my downloads somewhat but I

can now download at a good speed instead of the idiotic speeds of the "free" sections.

One of the ways round the whole host of filehosts is something like an Alldebrid account which in effects gives you premium account speeds on up to 40 or 50 different hosts. The cost is not much more than a single filehost premium account. I use Alldebrid and have tried Real-debrid which usually cover at least one of the hosts that are used on a post. You can also use them with a download manager such as IDM which gives you really fast speeds.
