what GPU to buy?!

Recommended Posts

Gigabyte GTX 480 vs. Sapphire HD6870 vs. Gigabyte GTX 550 TI?!

well basically I'm buying a GPU in a few days and I got these 3 for about the same price the 480 and the HD6870 are used and the 550 new for a bit more

Wondering what GPU is better for gaming now the reason im asking is everywhere I look I find that the 480 is way better than the other 2... but a friend of mine has the 550 and has been harrasing me to buy it... we have been arguing about what card is better for about a week now and I cant find any gaming benchmarks for the 480 so i thought I'd ask :)

and the HD6870 I think is already out of the question for me lol just cause I'm a G-Force kinda guy and I believe in this case that both the other cards are better

and another thing is forget that the 480 is used i need a real comparison.

thx in advance ;)

I guess what you need to consider is what games you're going to play and the how much load is going to be put on the GPU. I'm a nvidia bloke...and I'm currently using a GT630 which had dealt with everything thrown at it...it also helps when this has 4Gb onboard memory...however, I'm going to be upgrading my GPU soon, the GT630 will go in one of my other pcs, replacing the 1 I currently have in there which is a 9800...

My advice...don't buy second hand....

So  u  don't like  my  response, so good  4 u.  You asked a  question, and I  gave  you an answer.

True  little  detail, but if really need  to ask, then  you need some primer on  this  topic.

Still  if you  want  to  run  with the  big boys, so then  you  gotta  pay  the  price, is  my  point. Upgrades points are  fine, ( waste of  money in the short term) unless  your  hardware  goes  down,  system upgrades ( like new)  are much better and will give  you a  better  gaming experience.

You  should  work on  your expectation  skills.

I've heard good things about the Sapphire personally, though i don't have one.

just wondering are you just using it for gaming or mining as well?

I am a big Nvidia fan so I have been using Nvidia GT640 (4GB DDR3) with great success.

It works well for CAD as well as Gaming.
