The first lady recalled shopping at the farmer’s market and used her hands to show the length and thickness of a cucumber she could buy for a dime. The second old lady nodded, adding that the tomatoes used to be much bigger and cheaper also. She demonstrated the size of the two big tomatoes that she could buy for ten cents apiece.
