    These are the instructions to installl, run and register Camtasia 9 for PC.

     

     Unpack, install.
     
         Remove all techsmith blocked entries from the hosts file.
         If you've previously blocked this product hosts, your hosts file
         should contain the following entries - remove them.
     
         127.0.0.1    www.techsmith.com
         127.0.0.1    activation.cloud.techsmith.com
         127.0.0.1    oscount.techsmith.com
         127.0.0.1    updater.techsmith.com
         127.0.0.1    camtasiatudi.techsmith.com
         127.0.0.1    tsccloud.cloudapp.net
         127.0.0.1    assets.cloud.techsmith.com
     
         NOTE! Without removing the entries, the registration will not be
         completed.
     
         Completely block the program executables in your firewall:
         <install dir>\CamtasiaStudio.exe
         <install dir>\CamRecorder.exe
     
         Use our Keygen to register the application.
     
    However, I do not understand what the hosts file is or how to go about doing the blocking.
     
    I apologise for my ignorance, but can someone explain it in simple terms and a bit more detail.
