  1. I am a big BackTrack/Kali Linux user. What I have found is that folks are intimidated by Linux  (unless they have previos Unix user experience) because of the many different flavors Linux offers in Ubuntu and Debian. Getting compatible drivers to work with Linux has always been the biggest issues that needs to change. I find Linux far more advanced as compared to Windows. In fact Linux can fix Windows OS issues but not the other way around. IMO Mark Phelps is 101% correct and makes very excellent points on everything thing he said. Double thumbs up to Mark Phelps for his excellent comments that many of us have learned to be sadly true.

A good example is that I had a linksys wireless N" USB adapter that I had to ditch for a "Rosewill  AC1200UBE2"  wireless USB adapter  for penetration testing all because of no diver support in Linux in order to do penetration testing in the "N" bandwidth range.

I have been using Debian Kali Linux to check our dead links here at CP with Iceweasel using grease monkey and scripts Tech 425 shared with me. Bottom line it is BLAZING faster than anything else I have used to date.

IMO both Debian and Ubuntu have a lot more work to do before  they hope to win over folks to their OS.

  2. Since it's a new router you have more options than eating a lemon router. First off you will want to contact Customer Service  (you will want to record your call) and inform them that your call may/is being recorded for quality assurance. Doing this will insure that you will get the reps attention faster than anything. Be sure to ask for the reps name and ID # and what their position is at AT & T. If they asked why you need this explain you need this as so the share holders can hear this at the next share holder meetings. You may want to further explain what happened and that you have been a very devoted customer. They will of course want all your info such as name, date of purchase, receipt  number excreta. Ask that they open a ticket or occurrence report on this and ask that they provide you the ticket/occurrence number as well.

Not knowing where you live or what other issues my arise from your AT & T services I have done some research in order to provide you phone number options to call.

  4. Have you looked into TeraByte Unlimited? Me thinks it's something for everyone's future references. I have always had great results with this image/boot manager for Windows.  Another jewel I often use for issues and to which other Techs will vouch for is called  "DLC BOOT 2013 V 1.2"...truly a treasure in your arsenal of PC Repairing.  :)

  5. Another option is "Geek Squads MRI 5.8.2" or "SARDU 2.0.6.5"...both have great tools very much like like "Hiren's 15.2 Boot CD" does. Also "DataRecoveryWinPE 4.0.Build.1887" is a sweet tool too for recovery. In fact Tenorshare Data Recovery WinPE  can create an emergency boot disk and recover your lost files when your Windows is have any booting issues like crashes, keeping rebooting, freezes, even if it won't start up at all. Another tool besides "Easy Recovery Essentials Pro for Win7" is trying "DLC Boot 2013".  Yes there are many great tools for repairing PC's but IMO the all above Utility tools are a must have for Tech's. and layman's alike.
