Causes: Possible causes include incorrectly registered DLL files, incompatible DLLs, or another program may be preventing AutoCAD from running. The "Migrate From a Previous Release" utility is not available with the installation of AutoCAD Mechanical. It would normally be found under Start > All Programs > Autodesk > AutoCAD 20xx > Migrate Custom Settings. Causes: Migrating settings within AutoCAD Mechanical is not a supported feature, which is why the utility is missing from the program menu. Solution: The executable for the migration utility is still installed with AutoCAD Mechanical. First try running it to see if settings can be migrated. It may work. To do this, double-click the AdMigrator.exe file (if using a system other than Windows XP, right-click the EXE and choose "Run as administrator"). The file is located in the AutoCAD program folder (i.e, C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 or C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014, depending on the version of AutoCAD). What has been known to happen is CUI files being incorrectly replaced and causing the ribbon and other interface elements to fail in the program.To manually migrate settings, particularly if the migration utility does not work, please do the following: In your prior version of AutoCAD Mechanical, go into Options, to the Profiles tab, and export your profile to an ARG file. Exit out of all versions of AutoCAD. Copy the acadm.cuix and acadmac.cuix files from the older version of AutoCAD Mechanical: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical 20xx\Rxx.x\enu\Acadm For Windows XP, the path is: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical 20xx\Rxx.x\enu\Acadm Navigate to the above folder for your current version of AutoCAD Mechanical. Paste in the acadm.cuix and acadmac.cuix files, overwriting the ones that are there. Delete the acadm.mnr and acadmac.mnr files. In your current version of AutoCAD, go into Options > Profiles and import the ARG file. After this, some additional things that you may wish to migrate are custom line types files and hatch pattern files.
