Age Appropriate (8-9yo) WWI information
NeophobiA replied to NeophobiA's topic in Mirror / Other Requests
TY M@x, will have a more detailed look in the morning... -
My Stepson and His Mate are asking many questions about Hitler and life in the POW camps of WWI, being only 9 I am finding the material He is presenting Myself and His Mother a little heavy and although I don't wish to sugar coat the truth for He has always been war and military inclined I want to give the info I present to Him justice without bursting His head. If the option was there to hear it direct from Someone who lived it He would sit attentively and absorb every word and correct anyone from there on end who had their facts wrong. So I am after media of any form, literature or video that would be of use to the Child if anyone could provide or even suggest it would be appreciated. The Boy has had a disposition for the History of War and the Military from a very young age and although He is only at learning stages of reading He can, and has done since preschool, quote stats of weapons, vehicles, aircraft and marine vessels from most eras of all countries. (To a point He trips His Parentals out on a regular basis.) This is not something We have pushed onto Him, He is His Own entity in His Own right but now He thirsts for more than figures and wants facts on the how and why of Wars. Please if anyone can help and Thankyou in advance... 80)

25 Everyday Signs Completely Ruined (or improved) by the Internet
NeophobiA posted a topic in The Fun & Laughs Section
There are signs everywhere. Inside, outside; if you really take a look, you’ll notice that we are completely surrounded by them. Well some people have had enough! That, or they’re just bored. Either way, some citizens have decided to have a little fun at these signs’ expense, reinterpreting them in ways that are both surprising and humorous. And with that, the Sifter presents 25 everyday signs—completely ruined by the Internet. (ref: http://twistedsifter.com)- 1 reply

What Criminals Actually Experience in American Prisons
NeophobiA replied to freak's topic in Community Lounge
Same in Australia, I know, I worked in some of the biggest here in I.T. and once you get behind those walls it's a completely different world, I was lucky and got to go home at night but some of the guys, and girls depending which prison I was in at the time, that worked alongside Me didn't, they were inmates. Lock-down is scary, food is dodgey, industry is different, like I said, a whole different world... -

Dead Kennedys remind us of the first time that piracy killed music DEAD?
NeophobiA posted a topic in Community Lounge
When punk group The Dead Kennedys released their EP In God We Trust, Inc tape in 1981, side one had all eight songs; side two contained a POLITICAL STATEMENT. Here’s a clear image of that tape so you can see the sellotape over the top left-hand corner: Which - for those of you who weren’t around for the good old cassette days - meant that the write-protection notch was covered, allowing the blank side of the tape to be recorded over. Cheeky. Side two of In God We Trust, Inc was a reference to “Home Taping Is Killing Music”, the slogan for the 80s campaign to stop copyright infringement. The music industry’s concern that people would record music from radio and copy albums, thus harming sales, led them to create a now-infamous logo consisting of a tape and crossbones: The whole thing worked really, really well, and everyone has taken it completely seriously ever since. Well, sort of. No, not really. -
