  14. Samsung Galaxy S5 U.S. Release Date: 5 Key Details By Adam Mills | 03/11/2014 The Samsung Galaxy S5 release in the United States received another green light today as the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S5 was spotted passing through the FCC, clearing the way for an eventual release in the month of April alongside variants on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and more. Back in February, Samsung took the stage in Barcelona, Spain and announced that it would be releasing a Samsung Galaxy S5 to replace the Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship that emerged last April. As expected, the Galaxy S5 will not only be coming with a number of new features, it will also be coming to a number of regions around the world including the United States. Shortly after the Galaxy S5 was announced, carriers in the United States confirmed the Galaxy S5 for arrival. The device is all but confirmed for release on major carriers inside the month of April though AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon, which represent the five largest carriers, have yet to issue specific release dates. Despite their reluctance to issue information to consumers, we know that the Galaxy S5 U.S. release has pushed closer. Last week, we saw the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Galaxy S5 variants pass through the FCC on their way to the United States. The FCC is just one of the roadblocks that devices face before they can arrive on shelves but it’s arguably their biggest hurdle. Today, the remaining member of the big five cleared the FCC on its way to the U.S., a sign that we could see all five major carriers release the Galaxy S5 in close proximity of each other. The U.S. Cellular Galaxy S5 is thought to be the SM-G900R4. The SM-G900R4recently passed through the FCC on its way to the United States so it looks like U.S. Cellular customers are one step closer to the arrival of the Galaxy S5. The filing doesn’t reveal the exact release date or any pricing details, all of which remain missing. With Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile committed to Q2 rather than April, this could be the final green light for the initial Galaxy S5 release inside the United States. Major carriers typically beat smaller, pre-paid carriers to release and it looks like we could see the same here with Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S smartphone. What this means is that we now have five key facts about the Galaxy S5 release date in the United States. Those facts include: All five major U.S. Galaxy S5 variants have inched closer to release. Major carriers & MetroPCS are committed to April. Smaller carriers are committed to Q2 (April-June). Retailers like Best Buy/RadioShack will offer the Galaxy S5 upon release. T-Mobile will offer the 16GB model. It also appears that it will offer the 32GB Galaxy S5 online. The Samsung Galaxy S5 appears to be a worthy replacement for the Galaxy S4. It boasts a large 5.1-inch 1080p display, speedy processor, upgraded 16MP camera, dust and water resistant design, Android 4.4 KitKat, and new software features from Samsung. It also comes in 16GB and 32GB form with a microSD card slot and four colors including black, white, blue, and gold. Thus far, we’ve only seen one carrier confirm its intentions as T-Mobile has the Galaxy S5 listed in black and white and with 16GB of internal storage space. A new report claims that the device will also come in 32GB form. The Samsung Galaxy S5′s price is also unknown though rumors have pointed to a possible price drop from the Galaxy S4, the latter of which debuted last year for the usual $199.99 on-contract. Those rumors remain unconfirmed and will likely stay that way until orders begin.
