  1. While I think .mkv might be the best, with .mp4 a very close second, I found if I copied .mp4s directly to a USB stick, I can plug it into my Blu-Ray player and watch right away...no need to downconvert and burn DVDs (of course that conversion to .mp4 takes a bit of time, and I haven't decided on a program that accurately and efficiently adds subtitles yet), but at least I can watch in full HD (assuming that's the quality of the original file)

  2. Good, and clean, site for general program downloads...I run their app manager on boot (and exit as soon as I'm finished)...while it's not perfect, it's probably the best I've used of its type.  You can still  often find older versions of programs as well (we all know there's usually an update of a favorite that you hate compared to the last one).  Certainly IMO worth at least a look:

  3. I love this site...while the licenses are usually valid for a year at most (sometimes six months), they're usually fully functional versions of paid (and often quite good) programs...occasionally a reduced price extension is offered as well.   Note that if you want to, you can sign up for daily E-mail notifications (it's one of the first things I check my inbox for daily).

By the way, though I've nearly never bothered, they also have a Game Giveaway Of The Day as well...most of the games seem on the older side, honestly (stuff I played with on Win95), but there are a few that are more sophisticated
