At 6:11 a.m. on 6/11, Deucy was born. Aside from her perfectly timed birth date, what makes this feline so special is her unusual facial characteristic: Deucy has four eyes, two noses and two mouths.
The two-faced kitten made her debut this week in Amity, Ore. After the birth, pet owner Stephanie Durkee took the rare kitty to her local veterinarian, who determined that, despite Deucy's facial abnormality, her organs are intact and in good condition, local news outlet NWCN reports.
While the birth of a two-faced kitten -- often called a Janus cat -- is rare, it has happened before. A black cat with two faces, who was aptly named Harvey Dent, was welcomed into the world in February 2012, but died two days later due to complications. In July, another two-faced kitten, this one named Gemini, also died within days of his birth, likely because he had issues eating with two tracheas and one throat.
Since the odd facial characteristic is often coupled with other abnormalities, two-faced cats do not tend to survive for very long. However, that's not to say that Janus cats can't defy the odds. In 2011, two-headed cat Frankelouie was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records when he turned 12, the longest a Janus cat is known to have lived.
Given, Deucy's good health conditions, Durkee is optimistic that the special kitty will live a long life.

Pensioner In Wheelchair Branded 'Public Danger' By Judge After Hammer Attack On Carer

An 84-year old man has been branded a public danger after seriously injuring his carer in a brutal hammer attack.
David Bird hit Christopher Blake seven times with the weapon in the early hours assault while the 43-year-old was sleeping.
Mr Blake, who lived at the house with Bird and was his registered carer, woke up in his blood-soaked bed in a state of shock after the sudden onslaught.
He had suffered four cuts to his scalp, a laceration above each eye and a fractured cheekbone.
At Newcastle Crown Court Judge John Evans said: "It might have resulted in more serious injury than it did, if not death.
"Taking a hammer to the head of someone, who was not expecting it, is plainly an extremely dangerous, potentially lethal thing to do.
"The anxiety in his behaviour is unpredictable and that makes him dangerous.
"He constitutes a danger to the public, to anyone who finds themselves in contact with him."
Bird, who has pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, will be sentenced after he has undergone an assessment of his physical condition.
He appeared at the hearing in a wheelchair and was assisted by a health worker from the home he is now living in.
Prosecutor Neil Pallister told the court Mr Blake had gone to sleep in his bedroom at Bird's home in Throckley, Newcastle, on October 23, 2011 after watching Match of the Day.
Mr Pallister said: "He had been in a very deep sleep.
"When he opened his eyes he noticed his hands and arms were covered in blood.
"He sat up and noticed his bedroom door was open and the defendant, in his pyjamas and dressing gown, was standing in the doorway.
"His bed covers were covered in blood, heavily stained.
"He was bleeding and a hammer way lying on the bed.
"Mr Blake realised blood was coming from his head and face.
"Because of the shock he was not in any pain at that point.
"There appeared to be at least seven blows, he was struck at least seven times with the hammer."
The court heard it was Bird who dialled 999 and told the operator: "I have injured, seriously, my carer."
Mr Blake was taken to hospital where his wounds were treated and closed after the attack.
He told police in a statement that while Bird was a "strange character", the violence came "out of the blue" and has had a huge impact on him.
Bird was released on bail until the next hearing on June 24.
He told the judge as he left court: "It's the worst thing I ever did."
Brian Hegarty defending said Bird, who has a history of mental health issues, was responding well to the rules at the home at which he now lives.
Bird, who had been suffering "paranoid beliefs", has never been in trouble before.

Dad Gets Another Man To Take DNA Test To Avoid Paying Child Support
A dad dodged a DNA test in an attempt to avoid making child maintenance payments – by sending another man.
John Bullett, 44, of Featherstone, West Yorkshire, struck up a relationship with Newcastle mother-of-one Danielle Roxburgh three years ago.
But the romance turned sour when he found out the 29-year-old was pregnant.
And when the Child Support Agency (CSA) requested a DNA test last year to establish if he was the father, Bullett sent a man known only as ‘Andrew’ in his place.
He was caught when officials from the CSA made a routine visit to Danielle’s home to show her a picture of the man who took the test.
Speaking to Sky Tyne & Wear, Danielle said: “It looked nothing at all like John, nothing.
“How could anybody do that?
“He’s lied to me for the last three years and he has a little boy that nobody even knows about.”
Bullett appeared at Leeds Crown Court on June 5 after pleading guilty to fraud at an earlier hearing.
Sentencing him to a six-month curfew, Recorder Simon Hirst said: "You behaved in a despicable and cowardly fashion.
"This was plainly a planned deliberate matter in which Mr Bullett recruited another man to pull the wool over the doctor’s eyes, the department and of course to avoid paying some money to this lady to help with the upbringing of this child."

A 73-year-old Maine man who was missing for more than 14 hours was discovered to safe and sound on Tuesday morning in the best way possible: He walked right past a news crew reporting on his disappearance.
"How are you?" WMTW News 8 reporter Norm Karkos politely asked a man wandering through his camera crew's shot.
"Good," the man responded while shuffling past with his hands in his pockets.
It didn't take long for Karkos to realize that the stranger was actually Robert McDonough, the man Limington authorities had been looking for since roughly 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
The News 8 crew was stationed on a road near McDonough's home, where they were providing live reports for the local channel's morning show.
McDonough, who suffers from dimentia, confirmed his identity to the news crew and they immediately notified the Maine Warden Service.
"We were doing our last live shot at the bottom of the hour," Karkos explained during his report. "And we saw a gentleman just kind of walk up behind us and he identified himself as Bob McDonoigh."

Coke Baron Whose Gang Supplied Police Officer Jailed For 14 Years
A drugs baron whose gang supplied a serving police officer with cocaine has been jailed for 14 years.
John Whyte, 47, was part of a cocaine ring which was cracked when police launched an investigation into Detective Sergeant Paul Thompson in 2010.
Thompson, who once worked as an undercover test purchase officer with the drugs squad, was cleared of being a dealer after a trial.
But the 45-year-old, who had been based at Sunderland's Gill Bridge police station, was fined after being found guilty of three charges of possession of cocaine.
The former officer had admitted buying the class A drug after he developed a habit following the death of his mother.
Jurors at his trial accepted he and his wife had been selling a herbal based Viagra substitute to friends, not cocaine as prosecutors had alleged.
After the trial last year the supply gang members, including Thompson's brother, were given jail sentences totalling 30 years.
At Newcastle Crown Court Whyte, of Millwood, Chilton, County Durham, who a separate jury found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine, brought the total to 44 years.
Judge Simon Hickey said Whyte, who was given a 10 year sentence for dealing heroin in 2003, was a "sophisticated and cunning" man who was heavily involved in bulk buying and selling cocaine.
The judge said: "Police came across this business when they started looking at the affairs of a serving police officer, who is transpired had been using cocaine from his own brother, who was a member of the organisation."
Thompson had resigned from the force when the dealing allegations were made against him.
Thompson was fined £1,000 for drug possession and a charge of misconduct in public office which jurors convicted him of in relation to using police computers to access details on people he knew.
The disgraced officer was just one of the customers of the Ponteland based crime gang headed by brothers Stephen and David Wood, who supplied to his brother Brian Thompson.
At the hearing last year Stephen Wood, 49, of Thornhill Road, Ponteland, was jailed for 12 years, David Wood, 52, of Silver Lonnen, Fenham, Newcastle, was jailed for eight years, Brian Thompson, 51, of Thorneford Place, Ponteland, was jailed for six years and courier Stephen Burdett, 38, of Armington Road, Tamworth, was jailed for four years.
They had all admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine after police set up a surveillance operation into Paul Thompson. The officer and the drugs gang were arrested after police raided Stephen Wood's home and found 4kg of compressed cocaine powder.
Investigations showed the gang had delivered cocaine worth £1m to buyers in the North East over a 14 month period.
Police found £160,000 in Brian Thompson's wardrobe which he had been hoarding for the Wood brothers.
Detective Chief Inspector Lisa Orchard said after the hearing: "During Operation Trojan we established Whyte was instrumental in organising the transportation and supply of cocaine into the North East.
"He was a key player in this organised crime group and this conviction shows wherever in the country criminals are operating, we will target them."
The Special Crime Division of the CPS in partnership with Northumbria Police will be seeking a Serious Crime Prevention Order against Whyte which places restrictions on his lifestyle when he is released.
This can include limitations on the number of phones he can own, how much money he is allowed to carry and restrictions on the number of bank accounts he could have.

Murder Trial Begins For Pensioner Whose Body Was Found In Freezer

Three people have gone on trial accused of murdering a pensioner whose decomposed body was found in a freezer.
Sharon Swinhoe, 44, is accused of murdering her ex-partner, Peter McMahon, with Joseph Collins, 54, and Ronald Douglas, 77.
The trio are alleged to have murdered Mr McMahon, 66, during a "serious sustained assault" in which the retired civil servant's eyes were gouged.
They are then accused of moving the body in a suitcase and storing it in a chest freezer, where it badly decomposed before the grim discovery was made by police.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that Mr McMahon was "besotted" with Swinhoe, who was more than 20 years his junior, after meeting in the Metropolitan Bar in Elswick, Newcastle.
Nicholas Lumley, prosecuting, said: "More likely than not, she saw him as a good catch, a 'sugar daddy' after he would often buy things for her.”
The court heard that Mr McMahon had a "decent pension" and was financially comfortable, but Swinhoe milked his bank account and credit card, continuing to make withdrawals for hundreds of pounds after he was dead."There were other men in her life and she cunningly played off one against the other.
"Mr Collins was one of those other men in her life, Mr Douglas was another.
The couple had a volatile relationship, but Mr McMahon "took the rough with the smooth" and on October 18 last year, he was "giddy" with excitement to receive a phone call from Swinhoe, who gave the impression of wanting to reconcile their relationship, the court heard.
"Mr McMahon was being set up," said Mr Lumley.
"He was blissfully unaware of that.”
On November 18, Mr McMahon's eldest son called him from his home in New Zealand, to tell him that his partner had given birth, and he was now a grandfather.
Swinhoe answered the call and told Mr McMahon's son that his father was sleeping, despite it only being early evening.
On November 20, at around 7.30pm, Swinhoe, Collins and Douglas were caught on CCTV arriving at Collins' flat at The Sycamores in Newcastle, with what the prosecution allege was a suitcase containing Mr McMahon's body.
Mr Lumley said: "Mr Douglas is dragging behind him what is very obviously a heavy case.
"Mr Collins holds the door open for them. There is no question that these three
are not acting together.
"Miss Swinhoe can be seen telling Mr Douglas what to do.
"Mr Douglas drags the suitcase onto the landing.
"The next day, Mr Collins went to a second hand shop on Elswick Road and picked out a freezer for £60."
CCTV showed the freezer was delivered to Collins' flat, although the two men wouldn't let the delivery staff into the flat, insisting the freezer was left on the landing.
Cleaners and management in Collins' building began to complain of a stench in the days that followed, but he blamed it on a blocked toilet.
On December 1 at 1.30pm a 999 call was made by Swinhoe to police, but the call was quickly terminated.
When police attended the scene, Swinhoe, of Crawford Terrace, Walker, Newcastle, said she was being harassed by Collins.
She went on to say that she hadn't seen McMahon for six weeks and thought he
was dead and in a freezer in Collins' flat; police went to his flat and made the discovery.
All three were subsequently arrested but deny the murder.
Mr McMahon's injuries included a fractured nose, facial bruising, bruising to the scrotum and the "extremely unpleasant" gouging injuries to the eyes.
The trial continues. -
Mum Of Girl Mauled By Staffordshire Bull Terrier Says ‘Don’t Blame The Dog’Video: Rebecca Learmouth was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier
The mum of a girl attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier says the blame should lie with the owners, not the dogs.
Six-year-old Rebecca Learmouth was mauled by the dog while playing near her home in Byker, Newcastle on Tuesday May 29.
Rebecca was left with wounds to her mouth, nose and cheek and needed surgery to repair her injuries.
It’s the second attack by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Tyne and Wear this month after eight-year-old Jonathon Harwood was mauled in South Shields.
Despite her ordeal, mum Louise Cavanah says she doesn’t blame the breed and says it’s the owners who should be held accountable.
She said: “Not all dogs are the same, it’s just the way some of them are being brought up.
“They’re being used for street cred and protection. At one point it was a Rottweiler and now it’s a Staffie.”

A 13-year-old girl from Sunderland is recovering from a dog attack which left her needing 48 stitches to repair the wounds on her face.
Meghan Reynolds from Grindon was walking with a friend through Herrington Country Park when she was attacked by a German Shepherd.
The two girls had gone over to stroke the dog, which was on a long lead accompanied by its owners - a couple who foster children in Sunderland.
Though Meghan never touched the animal, it turned on her after being petted by her companion, who was not injured in the attack.
Meghan said: "I don't remember much. It's all a bit blurry. I was coming home from a barbeque and it was sunny so we'd walked through the park.
"It all happened really quickly, my friend stroked it and then all of a sudden it was on top of me, it pulled me down with my hair and it was attacking my face.
"I'm okay. We've had loads of my friends and family round and everyone's been really nice and my brother has bought me a new pair of shoes.
"The stitches are out now but I still don't really like everyone seeing my face like this yet. But it'll be better when the swelling goes down."
The dog owners and passers-by stayed with the teenager for forty minutes waiting for an ambulance to arrive because of a high number of life-threatening call-outs.
Eventually a police officer decided to drive Meghan to Sunderland Royal Hospital himself, where she endured four hours of surgery to repair her face.
It is legal to own German Shepherd dogs in the UK. It was a German Shepherd that mauled 13-year-old Meghan Reynolds in Sunderland in 2013.
Her mum Carol said: "I'm furious. What if she'd gone in to shock, isn't that life-threatening? Thank God for the police officer who was there, he was absolutely brilliant.
"I was so worried when I got a call, I didn't really know what to expect, or what she'd look like I just knew it was a dog attack.
"It was heart-breaking. There was blood everywhere, it had ripped right from her mouth to her cheek, and near her eye.
"She's been so brave, it's me that's been a wreck. She has her down moments. She's upset about the way her mouth looks, but she just finds it from somewhere to get herself back up."
According to the Government's Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, who are responsible for legislation regarding dangerous dogs, nine children and seven adults have been killed in dog attacks in the UK since 2005.
Northumbria Police statistics show reported cases of dog attacks in the North East have fallen over the past three years, with 32 dog attacks in 2012, 44 dog attacks in 2011 and 62 dog attacks in 2010.
The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, which aims to protect people from injury or from fear of dogs, makes it a criminal offence to allow any dogs to be out of control in a public place.
It also bans ownership of Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Braziliero, thought applications to exempt dogs can be made.
Moves to toughen the law are being made, with the exemption application fees increasing in July 2013, and the family of Jade Anderson, a 14-year-old girl killed by a pack of aggressive dogs, campaigning for the law to include out of control dogs on private as well as public property.

An image has emerged of a gunman during a shooting rampage in California that left four victims dead.
The CCTV picture shows the killer carrying an assault-style rifle as he enters the library of a college in Santa Monica, where many students were forced to block a doorway as they hid.
The image was released as police revealed the gunman used to be a student at the college and had a brush with the law in the seaside town as a teenager.
Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks has revealed new details about the killing spree.
The gunman's father and brother were found dead in their houseShe explained how the 23-year-old gunman, having killed his father and brother and apparently setting their house on fire, went on to order a woman to drive him around as he targeted other victims.
The woman, who was held at gunpoint, escaped unharmed.
However, two others died - one a college worker shot while driving a 4x4 and another a woman gunned down outside the library at Santa Monica College.
Another woman in the 4x4 was seriously injured and her prognosis was described as “grim”.

Protests Police break up topless Femen protest at Merkel's officeTopless feminist protesters calling for the release of fellow Femen activists detained in Tunisia have taken their protest to Berlin. The women, urging Chancellor Merkel to take up their case, were removed by police.
The protest coincided with a visit to Berlin on Friday by Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Larayedh and came in response to the detention and trial of three Femen demonstrators who were arrested in the North African country.
The women staged their demonstration outside the German chancellery, ahead of a meeting there between the Tunisian premier and Merkel.
Before they were removed, the women repeatedly chanted "Merkel free Femen." Two of the activists had the names of the jailed Femen members painted in black ink across their chests.
Police dragged the protesters away from the iron security fence around the building, but said the women had not been arrested. However, they said, possible charges of breaking German public assembly laws were being investigated. Officials did not give the nationalities of the women, but said they were not German.
The women were calling for Merkel to press the case of three women - one German and two French - who are on trial in Tunisia after demonstrating topless outside the Palace of Justice in the capital, Tunis. The three detained activists were themselves calling for the release of a Tunisian group member, Amina Sboui.
'Blown out of proportion'
Merkel told reporters after the meeting that the matter had been discussed. "We spoke about it and said that we from the German perspective hope for a fair and reasonable approach to the proceedings under the rule of law," she said. "We articulated our expectations knowing that the government and the justice system are different state institutions."

Despite the country being ruled by the moderate Islamist Ennahda party, Tunisia is considered to have the some of the most liberal laws of any Arab state in relation to women's rights.

Saudi Arabia can't find enough executioners to carry out its barbaric brand of justice, according to reports.
The Kingdom is actively soliciting applicants who can be trained to behead people sentenced to death under Sharia law, according to Vatican Insider. While the problem may shine a light on Saudi Arabia's frightening justice system, it also could show a more humane population, according to the Asia Times.
“Fewer people are interested in a "career" in executing others, a task that requires a lot of cold blood and a lot of training to be able to swing a sword properly,” Asia Times reported.
The executioners who are on the job are doing double duty, as the number of death penalties meted out has not slowed. Some 76 people were put to death in 2012, and 40 have already been put to death this year. The most recent case took place on May 14 in the southwestern city of Najran, where a man was beheaded after being convicted of murdering a fellow tribesman. The ultimate penalty is applied in Saudi Arabia in cases of murder, armed robbery, rape, drug trafficking, witchcraft and sodomy.
Human rights groups and western groups have tried to influence Saudi Arabia to implement more fair trials and less cruel methods of execution. It remains the only country in the world where beheadings are carried out in public places.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis has revealed that he never wanted to be pope and that he's living in the Vatican hotel for his "psychiatric" health.
Francis got very personal Friday as he met with thousands of children from Jesuit schools across Italy and Albania. Answering their questions one by one, Francis told them the decision to become a priest had been difficult for him and that he had suffered "moments of interior darkness" when "you feel dry, without interior joy."
But he said he went ahead because he loved Christ.
One of the most touching moments came when Teresa, a bright-eyed redhead no more than six, asked Francis flat out if he had wanted to be pope.
After joking around, Francis replied: "I didn't want to be pope."
