ubuntu resolv.conf

hey guys .....

i m using ubuntu 11.04

i m trying to configure my network

the following things doesn't work for me

when i try to edit the resolv.conf file in /etc/

after restarting the network the file does comes to it's original form even after editing

 

 

i've also tried chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf

but also nothing works

after applying the chattr setting and restarting the network

the network doesn't work cause it has to write the file resolv.conf

 

so wat should i do as i m using dhcp client and remember i've also edited /etc/network/interfaces to dhcp

 

and it's wired

first diagonise whether ur network is properly diagonised using lspci -v command... then get back to me with its output... also post ifconfig -a output...
