ok let me first ask one question bro

What distro means which distribution u want to install?

fedora/redhat/suse/debian/mandriva/ubuntu?

if u want to install the first five then go for create partition

/ ------------this is root patition

/boot

Swap

format / and /boot as ext3/4

if u want to dual boot windows and linux then try to install the bootloader in windows partition.

it depends on ur ease of use on a particular distro. but its ur personal choice. once u use all the distro then u will find the most appropriate for u. first u probably use a live distro

how to install ubuntu on windows??

if you want double boot then you need to partition your hd.

if no, then you can install it in your virtual machine. get vmware, create the drive and install your ubuntu or whatever os you like.

im using mint 13 and i recommend it... its vry easy to use and has ultimate multimedia support... if u want i will post its step by step installation guide...

@sindhu9192 i suggest u to use mint by partitioning ur hard disk as i dont trust virtual machines...
