Recommended Posts

Microsoft has pushed out a new update for the Skype platform today on iOS that brings with it quite a few improvements and the ability to make 720p video calls from your iPhone 5 or iPad 4.

In addition to the improved video call features, the update also makes it easier to send Video Instant Messages (VIM) with improved audio and call quality, easier to use country code selector, and stability improvements for the upcoming iOS 7 release.

Skype for iPhone version 4.10 supports: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch (3rd generation), iPod Touch (4th generation), iPod Touch (5th generation) and for the iPad, version 4.9 supports: iPad, iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad (4th generation), iPad Mini .

The improvements work to enhance the Skype applications on the iOS front, but there's no word on when the other mobile platforms will be updated to make sure that Skype is the preferred VOIP client for mobile users.

For a bit more about the update, there is a video posted above that answers some of the questions the beta testers of the app (like yours truly) had while we were playing around with Skype’s latest bits.
