A Canadian woman faking pregnancy was detained in Bogota, Colombia, with a prosthetic belly full of cocaine, police said Wednesday.

Tabatha Leah Ritchie, a 28-year-old social worker originally from Toronto, was caught in the Colombian capital's international airport during a search by police anti-narcotics officers, according to AFP. They found two kilos of cocaine hidden behind a pocket of latex in a fake pregnancy prosthetic.

The Colombian authorities regularly challenge passengers they suspect may be "mules," the name given to drug smugglers headed most often to the United States. In Ritchie's case, she was headed to Canada.

Smuggling techniques are varied and imaginative, often hiding the drugs in computers, books, perfume bottles and shoes. In May, Colombian police arrested three cocaine traffickers disguised as nuns.
