TIMMINS, Ont. – One person is dead after a car carrying $100,000 in cocaine hit a pickup truck.

Police discovered the kilogram of cocaine in the car while investigating the crash, which occurred near Hearst, Ont., located 265 km northwest of Timmins, Ont.

The car, occupied by two 31-year-old men from Ottawa, was travelling west when it lost control, crossed the centre line and struck an eastbound pickup truck operated by a 44-year-old Sudbury man.

The passenger of the car died in hospital.

Both drivers were transported to hospital for treatment and later released.

The driver of the car was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of trafficking. He's scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

The names of the accused and the deceased have not been released.
