    Disappearing Dots

Disappearing Dots If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, you will only see one color – pink. If you stare at the black + in the center, the moving dot turns to green. Now, concentrate on the black + in the center of the picture. After a short period of time, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see a green dot rotating if you’re lucky! It’s amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don’t disappear. This should be proof enough, we don’t always see what we think we see.

  4. iPhone 4S Apple on Tuesday, announced the next generation iPhone: the iPhone 4S, 3G smartphone with an improved processor, which is designed to run seven times faster than the iPhone 4. This will also make the device capable of running applications faster than its predecessor. The new “World Phone” can run both CDMA and GSM networks, with an advanced and faster 8 megapixel camera.Having the iPhone 4S announced, Apple also stated that its earlier generation iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 will stay on and continue selling it,however their prices may be reduced. Powerful Processor At first glance, the iPhone 4S looks quite similar to the iPhone 4. However, the important feature that the iPhone 4 sports is the dual core A5 chip, the most powerful iPhone processor ever. The two cores in the A5 chip are set to deliver flawless performance with 7x faster graphics and two times more power. With the power of A5, the iPhone 4S is quick and responsive, which makes all the difference when you’re launching apps, browsing the web, gaming, and doing just about everything. And with all this, the A5 is yet so power-efficient with an outstanding battery life. OS The most exciting feature of the Apple iPhone 4S is that it will run on the iOS 5, which Apple announced it during its WWDC 2011 this year. It sports more than 200 features than the earlier versions, which includes Twitter integration, a new messenger called the iMessage application – used to communicate between iOS devices, improved Notification System on emails, News Stand and more. Apple claims that the iOS 5 is the most advanced and powerful OS, which will definitely enhance your experience with the iPhone. Along with its 200+ features, it will also include the iCloud service. This will enable users to sync, host and manage content like music, photos, apps, calendar, mail, contacts, documents, and so on. It certainly is an effortless way to manage your content, which can be accessed from any part of the world. The service will be available from October 12. Camera The iPhone 4S sports a splendid 8 megapixel resolution camera that claims to pack 60 percent more pixel for better shooting experience with autofocus, LED flash and face detection. It has a new custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture and an advanced hybrid infrared filter for sharper and accurate images. It also supports 1080p HD video recording at 30 frames per second. Improved auto white balance makes the color even more accurate, and temporal noise reduction helps you take great videos in low light and also has the video stabilization feature which will eliminate unwanted motion caused by unsteady shaky hands. Along with this, you can edit your video on the go and share them with your friends. Display Sadly, the display size is the same as the iPhone 4 and so is the resolution. It has a retina 3.5 inch with a 1.5:1 aspect ratio widescreen multi-touch display. It has an LED backlight IPS TFT LCD screen with a 960 by 640 pixel resolution at 326ppi (0.61 MP). This will provide crisp and crystal clear images, which brings a better viewing experience for a viewer. An interesting feature that the iPhone 4S has is the fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating on the front as well as on the back. Siri A new voice control feature in the new version of the iPhone 4S is an intelligent assistant called Siri. Siri helps you do everything with just your voice command. With this the device exactly understands what you say, and helps you figure out the right answer. If you want to make a call, send a message, set a meeting or schedule a reminder, the new Siri will help you make it possible. For instance, if the user commands stating “What is the weather going to be like?”, then the assistant will response such as “The weather is to be cloudy and rainy and drop to 60 degree today”. It’s an interesting feature that Apple has come up with, and I’m sure most of them will find it quite helpful. The voice control feature not only understands what you say, but it’s smart enough to know what you mean. So if you ask Siri, “Any good burger joints around here?”, then Siri would reply “I found a number if burger restaurants near you” and provides a list of all the restaurants nearby. The same feature can also be used to take dictation. Instead of typing, the iPhone 4S can listen to your voice and convert them into text. You can mainly use this to write messages, take notes, search the web, and more. You can also update your Facebook and update tweets with third-party apps. FaceTime The FaceTime feature lets you talk to your friends and loved ones no matter how far you are from them. With this feature you can not only video chat with your friends, but also host important meetings. With a tap, you can make video calls from your iPhone 4S to your friend’s or colleague’s iPhone, iPad 2 or iPod Touch. Or you can just command Siri, “FaceTime with Jake”. Or maybe you’re already talking to Jake, and you want switch to video mode. Just tap the FaceTime button on the screen and an invite pops up asking if he wants to join you. It’s seamless and works in both portraits and landscape view. AirPlay With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream what’s on your iPhone to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. And with AirPlay Mirroring, whatever you see and do on your iPhone appears on your HDTV at the same time. Network iPhone 4S is the first phone to intelligently switch between two antennas to transmit and receive, so call quality is better. It also doubles the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 14.4 Mbps.8 Which means faster connections, faster loading and reloading, and faster downloads. And iPhone 4S is a world phone, so you can use it almost anywhere. Whether you’re a GSM or CDMA customer, you can roam GSM networks in 200 countries around the world. The iPhone 4S will be available for pre-order from October 7th. The order can be placed from the Apple Online Store or by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. Choose a carrier and plan, and Apple will ship your iPhone free for delivery beginning October 14. However, the device will be available in-store starting on October 14 at 8am in US, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. It will be released on October 28 in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. And will be released in 40 more countries by December 2011.
  5. World Strange Man - Amazing Tree man An Indonesian fisherman who feared that he would be killed by tree-like growths covering his body has been given hope of recovery by an American doctor - and Vitamin A. Dede, now 35, baffled medical experts when warty "roots" began growing out of his arms and feet after he cut his knee in a teenage accident. The welts spread across his body unchecked and soon he was left unable to carry out everyday household tasks. Sacked from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children - now in their late teens - in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition. To make ends meet he even joined a local "freak show", parading in front of a paying audience alongside victims of other peculiar diseases. Although supported by his extended family, he was often a target of abuse and ridicule in his rural fishing village. But now an American dermatology expert who flew out to Dede's home village south of the capital Jakarta claims to have identified his condition, and proposed a treatment that could transform his life. After testing samples of the lesions and Dede's blood, Dr Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland concluded that his affliction is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common infection that usually causes small warts to develop on sufferers. Dede's problem is that he has a rare genetic fault that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts. The virus was therefore able to "hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells", ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as "cutaneous horns" on his hands and feet. Dede's counts of a key type of white blood cell are so low that Dr Gaspari initially suspected he may have the Aids virus. But tests showed he did not, and it became clear that Dede's immune condition was something far rarer and more mysterious. Warts aside, he had enjoyed remarkable good health throughout his life - which would not be expected of someone with a suppressed immune system - and neither his parents nor his siblings have shown signs of developing lesions. "The likelihood of having his deficiency is less than one in a million," Dr Gaspari told the Telegraph. Dr Gaspari, who became involved in the case through a Discovery Channel documentary, believes that Dede's condition can be largely cleared up by a daily doses of a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which has been shown to arrest the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV. "He won't have a perfectly normal body but the warts should reduce in size to the point where he could use his hands," Dr Gaspari said. "Over the course of three to six months the warts should be come smaller and fewer in number. He will be living a more normal life." The most resilient warts could then be frozen off and the growths on his hands and feet surgically removed. Dr Gaspari hopes to get the necessary drugs free of charge from pharmaceutical firms. They would then be administered by Indonesian doctors under his supervision. Still intrigued by the origins of Dede's peculiar immune condition, the doctor would like to fly him to the United States for further examination, but fears the financial and bureaucratic barriers would prove too difficult to overcome. "I would like to bring him to the US to run tests on where his immune condition has come from, but I would need funding and to get him a visa as well as someone to cover the costs of the tests," he said. "I've never seen anything like this in my entire career."

  10. This list contains men and women who never received Oscars in their respective fields but definitely at some point deserved one. This list does not include Honorary Oscars or Lifetime Achievement Award Oscars. 10 Albert Finney Albert Finney has been nominated for 5 Oscars in his lifetime. His most notable performance came in one of his first, Tom Jones. He was also nominated for Erin Brokovich, The Dresser, and Volcano. If you have never seen Finney in a film, I strongly recommend you watch him in The Browning Version - a lesser known but fantastic film about a teacher of classics. 9 Richard Burton Richard Burton was nominated 7 times for an Oscar and of those 7; six were in the best actor category. His most famous role was in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf. 8 Angela Lansbury Ah, Mrs. Lovett. How I love her, and how the Academy Awards do not. This star was nominated 3 times for Oscars, most notably for Portrait of Dorian Grey, and The Manchurian Candidate. She is probably most famous amongst the thespians as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd (the GOOD one, not the crappy one with Helena Bonham Carter who I do usually enjoy). 7 Peter O’Toole Peter O’Toole holds the record for most nominations without ever winning, he has been nominated 8 times, most recently in 2006 with his amazing performance in Venus. He would have won in 1962 for Lawrence of Arabia, if it had not been for Atticus Finch aka Gregory Peck. 6 Fred Astaire He was nominated only once in his long career. He is ranked fifth on AFI’s best actors of all time. He was nominated for Towering Inferno but did not win. He was later awarded honorary awards. He was most famous for his musical movies with Ginger Rogers! 5 Greta Garbo Recently ranked fifth on AFI’s greatest female stars of all time. She was the queen of silent film and is credited as having some of the most unforgettable movie performances ever. She was nominated four times and never won. The nominations were for films such as Anna Christie, Romance (nominated for both in 1930), Camille, and Ninotchka. 4 Deborah Kerr You may know Deborah Kerr best as Anna Leonowens from The King and I. She was nominated 6 times for an award and never won. She is considered one of the best female actresses of all time. She has the most nominations for a woman in the Best Actress role with six. She was also nominated for Edward My Son, From Here to Eternity, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison, Separate Tables and The Sundowners. 3 Cary Grant Cary Grant is ranked second on AFI’s best actors of all time. He is most known for some of the greatest movies of all time including North by Northwest, The Philadelphia Story, and To Catch a Thief. 2 Alfred Hitchcock Hitchcock is widely viewed as one of the greatest directors of all time; he never won an Oscar. Known for classics such as Rear Window, The Birds, Rebecca, Lifeboat, and Spellbound (all of those movies where ones in which he was nominated), this Sultan of Suspense deserved one, if not all-5 Oscars he was nominated for…. Boo on the Academy! 1 Charlie Chaplin SURPRISE! Charlie Chaplin never won an Oscar, EVER! This is rumored to be because of his public disdain for the Oscars. Nonetheless, Charlie Chaplin is considered by many to be the most influential and greatest actor of all time. He received 2 honorary Oscars, but as I said earlier those don’t count. No doubt he should have at least won ONE!
  11. Top 10 Great Movies That Were Never Finished The film industry has a long reputation for unfinished screenplays or projects abandoned because of expensive production costs and a hundred other reasons. These are the top 10 films that actually started filming but were never finished or released for one reason or another. 10 Uncle Tom’s Fairy Tales1968 Uncle Tom’s Fairy Tales was to be the first film starring Richard Pryor. The movie was about a white man who goes on trial for having raped a black woman. At the time of the making of this film, Richard Pryor’s wife complained that he was paying more attention to the film than he was to her. The film was eventually canceled and his wife shredded the negative. No copies of the film were known to have survived, however in 2005, scenes from the film appeared in a retrospective while Pryor was being honored by the Directors Guild of America. There is still a law suite pending to this day between Pryor’s ex wife and his daughter over this film and who should own it. 9 Who Killed Bambi1978 Russ Meyer was set to direct this film, which was to be the first featuring the Sex Pistols. The movie was intended as a pseudo-punk version of A Hard Day’s Night. Just a day and a half worth of shooting were completed as the filming stopped when the executives at 20th Century Fox read the script. The Producers and decision-makers were so shocked that they pulled all funding. The footage that exists shows Sting (the leader of a pop group called The Blow-Waves) assaulting drummer Paul Cook as he stops to ask for directions. 8 Kaleidoscope1971 This film was to be a groundbreaking experimental film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. If it had been completed it would probably have been Hitchcock’s darkest film. Even Hitchcock himself worried that some scenes might be too frightening for the audience. Kaleidoscope was the story of a bodybuilder who was a serial rapist and killer. David Hemmings and Michael Caine had been suggested as leads in the film. In the script there are several murders, including an attempt on the life of a policewoman. Hitchcock planned to experiment with innovative filming techniques such as hand-held filming and natural light. He also wanted to tell the entire story from the perspective of the killer. Unfortunately MCA studios stopped the project because they thought that the protagonist was too repulsive. All that remains now is an hour-long tape of silent footage. Some of these ideas would be recycled into his 1972 movie “Frenzy”. 7 The Works1978 This film was to be the first entirely 3D computer animated film. The film was about a villainous giant ant-like creature. The original meaning of the word “robot” in many Slavic languages inspired the name. The story was set somewhere in the future when a last World War had led to an advanced computer network, which now controlled the world. The main problem for this film was the fact that technology could not cope with a full feature-length CGI movie. The film was worked on from 1978 until 1986. In the end it became clear the movie would never be finished so the project was abandoned. However it is said that all the technology and software that was created for this project made the effort worthwhile. 6 Dus1997 Dus was to be a Bollywood action film directed by Mukul S.Anand. The storyline was about terrorism and shows an anti-terrorist intelligence officer who is sent on a mission to find an Afghan terrorist. Shooting of the film began in Utah, which was to have depicted scenes of Kashmir - the major setting of the film. 40% of the shooting had been completed before director Anand suddenly died. The film was abandoned never to be completed or released. The music soundtrack of the film was released while the film was still in production. 5 The Man Who Killed Don Quixote2000 Terry Gilliam directed this feature film. The shooting stopped within a week due to an injury to star Jean Rochefort who was playing Quixote. The movie was set to have been one of the biggest European films ever made, with a budget of $32 million. The entire movie would have been filmed in Spain and throughout Europe. The character Toby was to be played by Johnny Depp, and Vanessa Paradis would have been his love interest. When Rochefort, (an able horseman) attempted to ride it was obvious that he was in pain and required assistance dismounting and walking. It was discovered after he flew to his doctor in Paris that he had a double herniated disc. When it became apparent that he would not be able to return, Gilliam decided to scrap the project. There may be some plans to restart the production in 2009 with hopes that Michael Palin will play Quixote alongside Johnny Depp. 4 The Day the Clown Cried1972 The Day the Clown Cried was a film directed by, and starring, Jerry Lewis. The movie is about a depressed, formerly great German circus clown named Helmut Dorque during the beginning of the Holocaust. Dorque is eventually fired from the circus and is arrested at a bar by the Gestapo for mocking the Fuhrer. Dorque is then imprisoned in a Nazi camp for political prisoners. Lewis reportedly lost forty pounds for the concentration camp scenes. Unfortunately the producers were not fronted with sufficient finances, causing Lewis to began paying for the production costs with his own money. Lewis reportedly has the only known videocassette copy of the film, which he keeps locked away in his office. The location of the original film negative is unknown. Lewis refuses to discuss the film at all in interviews to this day. 3 Dark Blood1993 Dark Blood is about a character named Boy (played by River Phoenix). Boy is a hermit who lives on a nuclear testing site waiting for the end of the world while making dolls that he believe have magical powers. He meets a couple in the Arizona desert due to their car breaking down and he holds them prisoners because he desires the woman and wants to create a better world with her. Dark Blood was never completed due to the death of River Phoenix in 1993. The crew was 11 days shy of completing production. Because the film had to be abandoned, Phoenix’s mother was sued due to loss of expenses. The unfinished film is owned entirely by George Sluizer who wrote the film. He has hinted that he might use it as footage in a documentary about River’s life. 2 The Other Side of the Wind1972 Anyone who is a film buff would know that an Orson Welles film would have to be somewhere on this list. This Welles film was to star John Huston, Peter Bogdanovich and Dennis Hopper. Some believe that because this film was filled with so much sex and violence it was an attempt to revive Welles career. Apparently 96% of the film was complete but financial problems prevented it from being finished. Showtime cable network had guaranteed the money to complete the film, but a lawsuit by Welles’ daughter caused Showtime to withdraw its funding. In April 2007 Bogdanovich said in a press report that a deal was made to complete the movie. His goal was to release the film in 2008 but Bogdanovich recently said there is still over a year’s worth of work to be done. 1 Something’s Got to Give1962 Something’s Got to Give is probably the most famous unfinished film in Hollywood history. This was to be a light comedy and was a remake of the movie My Favorite Wife. The film starred Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Cyd Charisse and was directed by George Cukor. Monroe had recently undergone gallbladder surgery and had dropped over 25 pounds reaching the lowest weight of her adult life. On the first day of production, Monroe called the producer to let him know that she had a severe sinus infection, and would not be on the set that morning. Similar delays continued on an almost daily basis and the film quickly turned into a costly disaster. Because of the delays Monroe was fired and the film cancelled and shelved. Marilyn Monroe spiraled further into decline and died later that year in 1962. In the video clip above you can see the first 10 minutes of the film.
