How important is the pdf file? Do you need to access it or not? Will downloading the full acrobat or alternative be useful in the future? If you know the creator is he/she prepared to give you an unlocked copy? Is the pdf file corrupt? can you download the pdf file again? I guess what I'm saying is if the pdf file is important to you have you exhausted all of your options............................ cheers kool

When it comes to antivirus or security programs I always buy the program. I used to run on pirated copies but I like the security of knowing I can update without problems. Kaspersky in combination with malwarebytes is good but so is the combination of Vipre and malwarebytes................

koolrebel replied to caliboyhoy's topic in Helpdesk
Or you could just update the firmware for the optical drive before doing a clean install with win 7. I guess your drive must be a little old huh -

You can also search precisely by using quotation marks "The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn" Searching by title using my example above brought up 72 results. by using quotation marks you are telling the search engine to search specifically for The Twighlight Saga Breaking Dawn wich will include words of 4 characters or less.....

If your using Firefox then install greasemonkey followed by link checker and for more you can install rapidshare link checker which covers most of the other hosts too. then when you look at links you'll either see a green tick at the end of the link or a red cross. If you're really adventurous you can install snaplinks .........then you can check links by opening multiple pages from the index page in the sub forum you are in The real secret is to make sure posters only post threads with links that are active ........everyone should check links before posting especially if you're copy & pasting from other boards.

When i got in a jam I ran Malwarebytes then PRINTED the logs. Booted into safe mode then manually removed all reference from registry. rebooted into safe mode ran antivirus software to find whats left if any........... You have not deleted a virus by replacing the assembly folder all you have done is repair the folder allowing the laptop to boot. any remnants of a virus will now need to be removed. It worked for you but it's like putting a band aid on a cut artery.............

Most forum search engines restrict the character limit of 4 I find that it pays to use the advanced search function. Whilst not that great it does make searching easier. If I were to search for Jerry Lee Lewis I'm in trouble straight away because of the word Lee and its character total of 3. However If I was to place the same search in quotation marks thus "Jerry Lee Lewis" I am telling the search engine to take note of all words in the search as one sentence NOT as 3 separate words. The key to a good search is the information posted. Everyone should make the title of their threads as informative as possible without abbreviartion. Applying tags can be useful too.

Filesharing host blocking US...is there a work around??
koolrebel replied to ChasX's topic in Community Lounge
Hostizzle http://hostizzle.com They use 1024bit SSL/TLS and blowfish, and OpenVPN as client software. Setup is dead easy, with the self extracting wizard to port the config files into OpenVPN. The basic service is completely free, and with 100Gb of data allowed at a maximum of 500kbps. Though you do need to renew your certificate every month too if you’re not willing to shell out for a premium account (which also ups your traffic and connection speed).
