Recommended Posts

Embedding photos, videos and even Twitter messages on websites is common place nowadays and now Facebook wants to offer the same type of feature for its news posts. Today, the company started the gradual roll out of its embedded news post support.

Facebook's announcement states that only public posts can be embedded on web pages and blogs. It adds, "When embedded, posts can include pictures, videos, hashtags and other content. People can also like and share the post directly from the embed." More information on how these posts will work is revealed on the Facebook Developer page. Basically, each post will have an embed option that, when used, creates a HTML tag that can be copied and pasted into a web page.

Facebook is slowly ramping up its support of embedded posts. At the moment, only a select few news websites will have the ability to embed Facebook posts but it will expand to more sites "soon". We suspect this new feature will be as popular as embedding Twitter messages or YouTube videos has turned out to be.

Facebook is rumored to be adding more features in the near future, including a report that claims it is looking into adding video ads inside news feeds.
