Nokia Lumia 1520 quad-core phablet coming to AT&T, codename ‘Beastie'

Recommended Posts

As with the launch of the Lumia 925 and the Lumia 1020, it seems that all of the details of the Lumia 1520 will be laid bare before the handset is officially announced. The 1520, in case you’ve somehow missed the endless leaks, is destined to be the first Windows Phone phablet, rocking a massive six-inch display.

No big surprise here, but it seems that a variant of the Lumia 1520, known by its development codename ‘Beastie’, is heading to AT&T, according to well-connected leaker @evleaks. Elsewhere, the 1520 is referred to by its codename ‘Bandit’, but you may recall that the Lumia 1020 also got an AT&T-specific moniker while in testing with the carrier: ‘Elvis’. @evleaks also noted that the codename of the Lumia 520 for AT&T was ‘Foo Fighter’.

The new phablet will be among the first devices to launch with the latest Windows Phone update, General Distribution Release 3 (GDR3), which will finally bring support for Full HD (1920x1080px) displays, as well as quad-core processors.

In addition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 1080p display, the Lumia 1520 is also expected to feature 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and a microSD card slot. A high-end PureView camera will also be included, although it won't match the 41-megapixel resolution of the flagship Lumia 1020.
