  1. Google’s original Pixel and Pixel XL will be updated to Android Q Android 9 Pie wasn’t the end after all Google is extending the software lifespan of its original Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones beyond what was originally promised. Today, in addition to kicking off its Android Q beta, the company made a surprise announcement: the Pixel and Pixel XL, first released in 2016, are eligible to run the beta release. Google isn’t directly confirming whether that means the devices will get the final, consumer version of Q, but I’d say it’s a very good assumption. Google came to the decision to include the 2016 Pixels based on popular demand. The company’s original timeline would have made Android 9 Pie the final major software release for the first-generation Pixels, which launched with Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed. With this extension, both phones will have gotten three additional releases worth of new Android features and refinement — a bar that many other phone makers fail to meet. The Pixel and Pixel XL are no longer sold by Google or most carriers, but it’s not uncommon for stock of the company’s first self-branded phones to pop up from time to time. And yes, that original Pixel camera still holds up pretty well. Google has already pledged that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 will receive three years of Android software updates.
  2. HP Expands Laptop Battery Recall Amidst Injury Reports These are the products that are currently affected: HP ProBooks (64x G2 and G3 series, 65x G2 and G3 series, 4xx G4 series) HPx360 (310 G2) HP Pavilion x360 11inch Notebook PC HP 11 Notebook PC HP ZBook (17 G3, and Studio G3) mobile workstations. The batteries were also sold as accessories or replacement batteries for the HP ZBook Studio G4 mobile workstation, HP ProBook 4xx G5 series, HP ENVY 15, HP Mobile Thin Clients (mt21, mt22, and mt31), or for any of the products listed above. While HP initially expanded its recall in January, the U.S. government shutdown prevented the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission from officially discussing it until March 12. The original recall was actually announced January 2018 by the CPSC due to "eight reports of battery packs overheating, melting, or charring, including three reports of property damage totalling $4,500 with one report of a minor injury involving a first degree burn to the hand." Therefore, 50,000 battery units were recalled. Despite that, the CPSC has recently stated that HP received "eight new reports of battery packs in the U.S. overheating, melting, or charring, including one report of minor injury and two reports of property damage totalling $1,100." As a result, the recall now brings us to "about 78,500" units. According to the CPSC, the batteries were "shipped in notebook computers and mobile workstations sold from December 2015 through April 2018 for between $300 and $4,000 and were also sold separately between December 2015 and December 2018 for between $50 and $90." If you have one of the products listed in HP's recall, you can go to this site which will guide you on how to validate your battery and provide you with the next steps to return it.
  3. You know you're an ENGINEER when..... The only jokes you receive are through e-mail At Christmas, it goes without saying that you will be the one to find the burnt-out bulb in the string Buying flowers for your girlfriend or spending the money to upgrade your RAM is a moral dilemma Everyone else on the Alaskan cruise is on deck peering at the scenery, and you are still on a personal tour of the engine room In college you thought Spring Break was a metal fatigue failure The salespeople at consumer electronics retail can't answer any of your questions You are always late to meetings You are at an air show and know how fast the skydivers are falling You bought your wife a new robotic vacuum cleaner and mop for her birthday You can quote scenes from any Monty Python movie You can type 70 words a minute but can't read your own handwriting You can't write unless the paper has both horizontal and vertical lines. You comment to your wife that her straight hair is nice and parallel. You forgot to get a haircut ... for 6 months. You go on the rides at Disneyland and sit backwards in the chairs to see how they do the special effects. You have ever saved the power cord and screws from a broken appliance. You have more friends on the Internet than in real life. You have never bought any new underwear or socks for yourself since you got married. You have used coat hangers and duct tape for something other than hanging coats and taping ducts. You know what http:// actually stands for. You look forward to Christmas only to put together the kids' toys. You own one or more white short-sleeve dress shirts. You see a good design and still have to change it. You spent more on your calculator than on your wedding ring. You still own a slide rule and you know how to work it. You think that when people around you yawn, it's because they didn't get enough sleep. You wear black socks with white tennis shoes (or vice versa). You're in the back seat of your car, she's looking wistfully at the moon, and you're trying to locate a geosynchronous satellite. Your laptop computer costs more than your car. Your wife hasn't the foggiest idea what you do at work. 4. Married couple and the fairy A married couple in their early 60s was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant. Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish. The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband.' The fairy waved her magic wand and poof..... .....Two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands. The husband thought for a moment: 'Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.' The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish. So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof..... .....The husband became 92 years old.

    Sick Husband

Sick Husband A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his check-up, the doctor called the wife into his office alone. He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe disease, combined with horrible stress. If you don't do the following, your husband will surely die." "Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant, and make sure he is in a good mood. For lunch, make him a nutritious meal. For dinner, prepare an especially nice meal for him. Don't burden him with chores, as he probably had a hard day. Don't discuss your problems with him, it will only make his stress worse. If you can do this for the next 6 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely." On the way home, the husband asked his wife, "What did the doctor say?" "You're going to die," she replied.

  11. US arrests alleged leader of $3.7 billion cryptocurrency fraud conspiracy The law enforcement agencies in the United States have arrested one top-level leader of a cryptocurrency pyramid scheme. The project named OneCoin has been alleged by prosecutors to be an elaborate scam rather than a legitimate and functioning digital asset. Brother-sister duo Konstantin Ignatov (younger brother) and Ruja Ignatova (elder sister) have been charged with fraud allegations. Konstantin Ignatov has been arrested on a charge for wire fraud conspiracy while the elder sister is indicted for wire and securities fraud, and money laundering. This information was unveiled in a document published on the official website of the US Department of Justice. The elder sister, Ruja Ignatova, is currently at large. The company OneCoin was started by the siblings in 2014 and had its operations running even during the time the warrants for both the leaders were issued. The marketing strategy of the crypto firm was to pay a small commission to its users if they persuaded others in their circle to buy OneCoin. This marketing plan is clearly a multi-level strategy and people should have realized that they are becoming the part of a pyramid. However, the company paid out the promised money and no one got hurt early. As a result, the company was able to sign up over 3 million memberships worldwide, according to their own claim. The only problem with this whole scenario is that the crypto company simply didn’t have a functional blockchain or any public ledger for the cryptocurrency they were selling. Geoffrey Berman, an attorney in Manhattan, said in an official press release that the culprits created a multibillion-dollar scam through lies and deceit. Within the starting of the company in 2014 and 2016, OneCoin was able to generate $3.7 billion (£2.9 billion) in revenues. Popular crypto news outlet CoinDesk noted that the company may have committed fraud in other countries including Bulgaria, Germany, India, UK, China, and Finland. Konstantin Ignatov faced 20 years in prison while Ruka Ignatova could get up to 85 years in prison if she is found guilty on all five counts alleged against her. This event should be a wake-up call for every crypto trader in the community. It is important to stay safe and buy Bitcoin, Ripple, or other cryptocurrencies that are globally known to be legitimate and authentic.
  12. Debit card with built-in fingerprint reader begins trial in the UK NatWest trials fingerprint debit cards to remove £30 limit NatWest bank has announced a trial of biometric payments that will see customers in the UK pay with their fingerprints for the first time. The trial, which will initially involve 200 customers, will see fingerprints replace chip and pin verification for payments over £30. The NatWest biometric payments trial will begin within the next few weeks, and will use technology developed by security firm Gemalto. It will be the first-time biometric payments are trailed by a UK bank, and could lead to a wider roll-out if it proves successful. “We are using the very latest technology across our business to make banking easier for our customers and biometric fingerprint cards are one of the many technologies we are exploring further,” said David Crawford, head of current accounts at NatWest. “This is the biggest development in card technology in recent years and we are excited to trial the service.” How NatWest biometric payments will work The NatWest biometrics payments trial will see 200 customers given contactless cards with built-in fingerprint sensors, which are per-loaded with the biometric data of the user. When a person goes to pay, they insert their card into the reader as they would when using chip-and-pin, but instead of entering their pin, they touch the fingerprint reader on the card with their thumb. The biometrics check is performed directly on the card, meaning that retailers do not need to make any changes to their own systems to accept it. The technology not only increases security for payments, but reduces the time it takes to complete transactions over £30. “Using a fingerprint rather than a PIN code to authorise transactions has many advantages, primarily enhanced security and greater convenience,” commented Howard Berg, UK MD of Gemalto. “Cardholders can pay quickly and easily with just a simple touch, and they no longer need to worry about the limit on contactless payment transactions.” The trial follows a survey by Gemalto that found that over half of UK consumers were keen to use biometric payment cards.

    I Hate My Job Day….

I Hate My Job Day…. When you have an 'I Hate My Job day', we all do (Even if you're retired, you sometimes have those days). Try this Out: Stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson. Be very sure you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains, and disconnect the phone, so you will not be disturbed. Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favourite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface, so that it will not become chipped or broken. Now the fun part begins. Take out the literature from the box and read it very carefully. You will notice that in small print there is a Statement: "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested and then Sanitised." Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud,' I am so glad I do not work in the thermometer quality control department at Johnson & Johnson.' HAVE A NICE DAY; AND REMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH A JOB THAT IS MORE OF A PAIN IN THE A&& THAN YOURS! Remember, if you haven't got a smile on your face and laughter in your Heart....Maybe you should go and work for Johnson and Johnson?? Enjoy life now - It has an expiration date!!!

    God and Adam

God and Adam God Said, "Adam, I Want you to do Something for Me." Adam Said, "Gladly, Lord, what do you want me to do?" God Said, "go down into that Valley." Adam said, "What's a valley.?" God explained it to him. Then God said, "cross the river." Adam said, "what's a River.?" God explained that to him, and then said, "go over to the hill...." Adam said, "what is a hill.?" So, God explained to Adam what a hill was. He told Adam, "on the other side of the hill you will find a cave." Adam said, 'what's a cave.?' After God explained, he said, "In the cave you will find a woman." Adam said, "what's a woman.?' So, God explained that to him, too. Then, God said, 'I want you to reproduce." Adam said, "how do I do that?" God first said (under his breath) "Geez...." And just like everything else, God explained reproduce to him. So, Adam goes down into the valley, across the river, and over the hill, into the Cave, and finds the woman. Then, in about five minutes, he was back. God, His patience wearing thin, said angrily, "What is it Now?" And Adam said.... * * * * * * * * * * * (YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS!!!!!!) * * * * * * * * * * * "What's a Headache?"

    The English Language

The English Language Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with the English Language? Let's face it English is a stupid language. There is no egg in the eggplant No ham in the hamburger and neither pine nor apple in the pineapple. English muffins were not invented in England, French fries were not invented in France. We sometimes take English for granted but if we examine its paradoxes, we find that quicksand takes you down slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. If writers write, how come fingers don't fing. If the plural of tooth is teeth, shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth. If the teacher taught, why didn't the preacher praught. If a vegetarian eats vegetable, what the heck does a humanitarian eat!? Why do people recite at a play? Yet play at a recital? Park on driveways and drive on parkways You must marvel at the unique lunacy of a language where a house can burn up as It burns down and in which you fill in a form by filling it out and a bell is only heard once it goes! English was invented by people, not computers and it reflects the creativity of the human race (Which of course isn't a race at all) That is why when the stars are out, they are visible but when the lights are out, they are invisible and why it is that when I wind up my watch It starts but when I wind up this observation, it ends.

    Women v/s Computers

Women v/s Computers A post dedicated to all computer lovers. Computers versus girlfriends, some reasons why computers are better than girlfriends. Your computer never wants to be taken out for dinner, on the other hand your girlfriend does and you know what can happen if you don’t. Your computer holds many valuable bits of information about your past and still likes you. You can stare at tons of other girls and your computer will never get mad at you No matter how ugly or bad looking your computer is you can always show it to your friends, while this might not be the case with your girlfriend. She doesn’t talk back to you. At best she beeps or gives you the silent treatment. A computer doesn’t mind if you are using another computer or computers, but in case of a girlfriend you can imagine the consequences. With a girlfriend its always your fault, while with computers you don’t have to say even sorry. A computer never forgets your birthday. You can always turn off a computer. She provides you with more information than your girlfriend will ever know. Computers never ask you to call them in the morning. You can shut her down whenever you get tired of her. Computers are affordable and cheap. Troubleshooting your computer is much easier than your GF. You cannot delete some data from a girlfriend rather they forget exactly what they want to forget and when they want to forget. Finally, if you don’t like your computer, you can always trade it in for a new one. As with many of my pastes, the intended is to be funny and not to be taken too seriously.

    Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors Behind Closed Doors, Donna Ferrato, 1982 Here was nothing particularly special about Garth and Lisa or the violence that happened in the bathroom of their suburban New Jersey home one night in 1982. Enraged by a perceived slight, Garth beat his wife while she cowered in a corner. Such acts of intimate partner violence are not uncommon, but they usually happen in private. This time another person was in the room, photographer Donna Ferrato. Ferrato, who had come to know the couple through a photo project on wealthy swingers, knew that simply bearing witness wasn’t enough. Her shutter clicked again and again. Ferrato approached magazine editors to publish the images, but all refused. So Ferrato did, in her 1991 book - Living With the Enemy. The landmark volume chronicled domestic-violence episodes and their aftermaths, including those of the pseudonymous Garth and Lisa. Their real names are Elisabeth and Bengt; his identity was revealed for the first time as part of this project. Ferrato captured incidents and victims while living inside women’s shelters and shadowing police. Her work helped bring violence against women out of the shadows and forced policymakers to confront the issue. In 1994, Congress passed the Violence Against Women Act, increasing penalties against offenders and helping train police to treat it as a serious crime. Thanks to Ferrato, a private tragedy became a public cause. This incident, set her on a long career as an advocate for battered women, helping to change how abuse is viewed and how it is handled by doctors and law enforcement officers. For the last 30 years, she said, the emphasis has been on educating society as to why men are abusive, rather than why women stay with them. “We’ve always tried to avoid that question,” she said. “I want the woman, especially if she is a mother, to feel the responsibility. If she’s got children, she can’t stay with a man like this. Her children are in too much jeopardy.” Donna Ferrato has been honoured for her activism and art, winning journalism awards for her courage and humanism, and even having New York City declare Oct. 30, 2008, “Donna Ferrato Appreciation Day” in recognition of her work.
