  1. Bob Dylan turns 77: A life in music and art The reluctant voice of a generation with songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'", Bob Dylan shot to prominence in the 1960s with songs that became anthems for the Civil Rights and anti-war movements. Over the decades since, Dylan shaped culture and music in the 20th century, a feat acknowledged by his 2016 Nobel prize for literature. Born on May 24, 1941, Bob Dylan turns 77. A look at his early music, association with Joan Baez and a life in art not limited to Dylan the singer-songwriter.
  2. Want to own a piece of Russell Crowe's movie history? Over the course of Russell Crowe’s marriage to Danielle Spencer, the actor accumulated a lot of stuff, and now that they are about to be officially divorced, he is putting a lot of it up for sale. Actor Russell Crowe is holding his "Art of Divorce" auction - a sort of parting of the wares - in Sydney. He separated from singer Danielle Spencer in 2012. There's armour from Gladiator, memorabilia from Master and Commander, guitars, top notch Australian art and his neo-Nazi boots from Romper Stomper. Saturday's sale at Sotheby's is expected to fetch about $2.3m (£1.6m). The Australian actor says the sale is all about moving on - a "watershed moment". The Gladiator "stuff" is be a real pull - a replica Roman chariot, armour, weapons and two life-size prop horses. But the biggest prices could be for the: Master and Commander The Far Side of the World violin A 1986 Grammy Award for Johnny Cash. There are also important paintings by some of Australia's most significant historic and modern artists, including Sidney Nolan and Margaret Olley. For those with a lower budget, maybe a scarf and a pair of old shoes from State of Play or one of the numerous guitars he's collected (his band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts never won much critical acclaim). Other "stuff" among the 227 lots: A Merc used on his wedding day in 2003 A Shane Warne Test jersey Cloth angel doll from The Sum of Us Jockstrap and other memorabilia from the Cinderella Man Leather sketchbook from 3:10 to Yuma On April 7, Sotheby’s will host the sale of Crowe’s belongings, and it’s actually called “The Art of Divorce,” which is the same date as both Crowe’s birthday and the anniversary of his wedding. 3. WWDC 2018: Apple expected to launch iPhone SE 2, iOS 12, new MacBook Apple is expected to make some hardware focused announcements at WWDC 2018 ranging from the much-awaited iPhone SE 2, and a new lineup of MacBooks. Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2018 will begin on June 4 and the five-day event will take place in San Jose, California. In addition to the ritual software announcements, the highlight this year is on new hardware announcements. Apple is highly expected to launch the second generation of its ‘affordable’ iPhone SE. The Cupertino tech giant could also announce a fresh lineup of MacBooks. Focusing on software, Apple will make announcements on emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Artificial Intelligence. During last year’s WWDC we saw new products like the Siri-powered HomePod smart home speakers and a new range of iPads — iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad Pro 10.5. Now that Apple WWDC 2018 is less than a couple of weeks away, here’s everything that you can expect at the developer conference. Apple iPhone SE 2 The biggest attraction at this year’s WWDC is going to be the iPhone SE 2. The original iPhone SE made its debut in 2016 as the company shifted its focus towards bigger display phones such as iPhone 6S and iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone SE, however, was touted as the affordable iPhone and aimed at those who loved the classic compact form factor of iPhones. Interestingly, Apple didn’t come out with a successor to iPhone SE in 2017. Ahead of the Apple WWDC 2018, a number of leaks have already given away key details about the new iPhone SE 2. For starters, the phone is expected to come with an edge-to-edge display, similar to iPhone X. This means Apple will be able to fit in a larger screen in the phone without having to significantly alter the overall dimensions of the phone. There are higher chances that iPhone SE 2 may also have a notch display, akin to iPhone X. Apple may even advertise iPhone SE 2 as the affordable iPhone X variant. The smartphone is expected to come with a glass design. As far specifications go, Apple iPhone SE 2 is expected to run on A11 Bionic processor, instead of the company’s A12 processor which is set to power the next-gen iPhones. The smartphone may have a bigger 1,750mAh battery, improved camera, and newer 32GB and 128GB storage options. Siri With Google and Microsoft making giant strides with Google Assistant and Cortana respectively, it’s Apple’s turn to show what its digital assistant Siri has in store. Already, Apple has hinted that Siri will be coming with newer voices and even power a newer home speaker. Google recently added six new voices to its Google Assistant, including that of singer John Legend. Siri is also expected to be more open to third-party applications — a recent change in strategy from Apple to boost usage of its voice assistant. Over the years, the company has expanded Siri to various third-party apps like WhatsApp, Uber and Truecaller. Now that Siri is powering smart home speakers and Apple Watch LTE, the company needs to include more third-party apps to the overall catalogue. Just recently, a new patent application revealed that Apple is making Siri smarter in a way that it can understand why a user has declined a call and send an appropriate response to the recipient. Significantly, Apple is likely to invest a lot on adding machine learning technologies into Siri. More hardware Apart from a new Homepod and iPhone SE 2 smartphone, Apple is expected to announce new line-up of its iPads and Macbooks. According to rumours, Apple’s new in 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch display variants. The new iPads, however, see a lot of under the hood improvements. For instance, iPad Pro 2018 aka iPad Pro 3 is expected to come with Face ID for biometric authentication, beze-less screen, and Truedepth camera. Similarly, Apple is expected to launch newer MacBooks including Mac Mini-series.
  4. Apple WWDC 2018: all of the rumours from the iOS 12 The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018 takes place June 4–8 in San Jose, California. Apple is expected to expected to make big news at WWDC 2018 with the launch of iOS 12. Seeing the latest mobile operating system update for iPhone and iPad makes sense for WWDC – most attendees are software developers. But what we'll see out of it is suddenly a big mystery in 2018. iOS 12 was due to see an intriguing home screen redesign and tweaks to core apps like Mail, Camera and Photos, but that’s said to have been shelved in favour of stability improvements. Apple was also said to be prepping a way to make both first- and third-party iOS 12 apps easier to port over to Mac computers. But that might delayed to iOS 13, too. Yes, iOS 12 could be less exciting due to its security and performance focus, likely because of how many iOS 11 problems there have been. The latest is the frightening-sounding 'black dot' bug. It's a lot of bad PR for Apple going into WWDC. Rumours indicate that iOS 12 will still have new features, including the continued push of Apple’s Augmented Reality (AR) ambitions and the still-surface-deep Health app. Parental controls will probably also be in the spotlight, especially after recent concerns over childhood phone addiction. We think that Animoji might show up in more places in iOS 12, such as in FaceTime and on a new iPad Pro 2018. Then there are the more long-shot features: an always-on display for the iPhone X would be a great way to show off the OLED screen technology, grouped notifications replace the current chronological notification mess we have now, and we hope that Apple will offer the ability to change cameras settings directly in the camera app instead of having to dig through one phone settings menu after another. Unfortunately, with security and performance taking the lead roles in iOS 12, we may see the company push the more exciting features to iOS 13, like a paid subscription to a premium version of Apple News, in 2019. At the very least, we're hoping that iOS 12 will improve the recently erratic keyboard autocorrect.
  5. BlackBerry teaser shows the KEY2 Android phone with dual cameras The BlackBerry KEY2 is the latest business-oriented Android smartphone from the company, teased in the below video and uploaded to YouTube today. The device appears to have a dual camera with LED flash setup, a physical keyboard, messenger apps support from BlackBerry Hub, Privacy Shade pre-installed, and for some reason, a new app drawer shortcut. The KEY2 is the successor to the KeyOne, a phone that was brave for BlackBerry but not the best as a daily driver, functioning more as a collection of nostalgia with some productive features. It’s tough to say whether the KeyOne was successful for BlackBerry Mobile; the device was part of just 850,000 total BlackBerry units sold last year though senior members of the team seemed satisfied with the device’s launch. We’ll see how the TCL-owned company does this time around when the KEY2 is unveiled to the public and the press on June 7th in New York City, USA.
