  1. Steve Jobs pre-Apple job application fetches $174,000 at auction A one-page job application filled out by Steve Jobs more than four decades ago that reflected the Apple founder’s technology aspirations sold for $174,000 at a U.S. auction, more than three times its presale estimate. The document was filled out by the 18-year-old Jobs by hand with Reed College as his address and English literature as his major. It also mentions, rather ironically in light of events that would take place a few decades later, that Jobs doesn’t have a phone. The job application also mentions his brief stint at Hewlett Packard and that his special abilities include “electronics tech or design engineer” with a special interest in “digital.” Little did the world know at that time that Steve Jobs would come to revolutionise the tech industry as we know it. Only three years after he filled out this job application he started Apple Computer alongside Steve Wozniak and the rest, as they say, is history. Other highlights from the online auction included an Apple Mac OS X technical manual signed by Jobs in 2001 that sold for $41,806 and a rare signed newspaper clipping from 2008 featuring an image of Jobs speaking at the Apple Developers Conference that sold for $26,950.

    Tough Round

Tough Round A man comes home after a terrible round of golf, his worst ever. He plops down on the couch in front of the television and tells his wife, “Get me a beer before it starts.” The wife sighs and gets him a beer. Fifteen minutes later, he says, “Get me another beer before it starts.” She looks cross but fetches another beer and slams it down next to him. He finishes that beer and a few minutes later says, “Quick, get me another beer, it’s going to start any minute.” The wife is furious. She yells at him, “You’ve been out golfing all day! Is that all you’re going to do tonight? Drink beer and sit in front of that TV? You’re nothing but a lazy, drunken, fat slob, and furthermore…” The man sighs and says, “It’s started…”

He looks around some more. As the salesperson is ringing up the purchases, the man asks him, why are your prices so cheap? The salesman says, well, the owner of the store is at my house right now with my wife and what he's doing to her.... is what I'm doing to his business!

    Nervous lady

Nervous lady An airliner flew into a violent thunderstorm and was soon swaying and bumping in the sky. One very nervous lady happened to be sitting next to a clergyman and turned to him for comfort. “Can’t you do something?” she demanded. “I’m sorry, ma’am,” said the reverend gently. “I’m in sales, not management.”
  14. Could Have Been Worse “Hey, George, did you hear the awful news about John?” The two golfers were talking over a drink in the club bar. “No what happened to him?” “Well, he had a great round on Wednesday—under seventy, I heard—anyway, he finished early and drove home and found his wife in bed with another man! No questions asked…he just shot ’em both! Isn’t it terrible?” “Could have been worse,” George commented. “How?” “If he’d finished early on Tuesday, he would have shot me!”
  15. Starting today paid apps were no longer being supported by BlackBerry World BlackBerry moving to shut down BlackBerry World on December 31st, 2019, the BlackBerry World storefront team has already initiated some moves to make that process easier. Unfortunately, that means quite a few changes for developers who have apps on BlackBerry World and end users still making use of BlackBerry apps. A new email has started going out highlighting those changes: Dear BlackBerry World Vendor, We wish to make you aware of some changes to the BlackBerry World storefront that may affect you over the coming months. Beginning April 1, 2018 BlackBerry World will move to a free-only storefront. The result of this change means that BlackBerry World will no longer host paid content and all purchasing mechanisms will be disabled. If you would like to continue distribution on BlackBerry World at no cost, please change your content to "free" by logging into the Vendor Portal. Any paid content not switched to 'free' will be removed from the BlackBerry World storefront on March 31, 2018. A few other things to note: For Vendors with only free content, there is no action required for the above-described changes. We will continue to host and distribute your free content as we do today. You can change your paid content to 'free' and re-list the application at any time. If you choose to remain on BlackBerry World, you will be able to continue monetizing your application(s), however, the payment mechanism will need to live within your application itself. This means any support for payments, refunds, etc. will be supported by you. There will be no required revenue split for Vendors who choose to monetize application(s) on their own. Refunds for paid content in BlackBerry World will be supported until April 30, 2018. Customers will still be able to access content they paid for prior to the above-noted changes. We appreciate you being a valued BlackBerry World vendor and ask that you contact us with any questions. Thank you, BlackBerry Storefront Team Probably goes without saying, but that's going to cause some issues for any developers who are still supporting the platform as they'll need to change up their apps in order to continue making money off of them from BlackBerry World and really, it pretty much removes whatever remaining amount of incentive developers had for creating apps for BlackBerry 10. Even apps that are in BlackBerry World that are paid and still work will likely be removed because there will soon be no way to charge for them. It's the beginning of the slow shutdown.
  16. Apple releases iOS 11.3 with Battery Health, Health Records, Business Chat and more Starting today, Apple has released the latest iOS 11.3 software update with new features like a battery health tool, new animoji, newer version of Apple ARKit, business chat and the ability to turn off processor throttling for iPhones with ageing batteries. OS 11.3 brings a new Battery Health Tool feature to show the long-term battery status of an iPhone and to inform users whether a battery needs to be replaced. The company has been quietly throttling iPhones and many people with an older iPhone experienced surprisingly slow performance. After the investigation, Apple apologised for not publicly disclosing why it is doing this and explained that it has started artificially slowing down iPhones with older batteries in iOS 10.2.1 was to prevent an even more serious issue that is typical with older batteries. OS 11.3 also adds enhancements to Apple Music and Apple News, as well as bringing Apple Pay to transit systems in Beijing and Shanghai, the Apple TV app to Brazil and Mexico, Advanced Mobile Location (AML) features to automatically send a user’s current location when making a call to emergency services. HomeKit support for software authentication that Apple announced last June, allowing developers to securely roll out HomeKit support to existing accessories without having to re-engineer hardware to include Apple hardware authentication chips. On the fun side, there are four new Animoji Many users are saying: iOS 11.3 makes their devices run smoother, that could be one important reason to upgrade.
