Mr Grumpy 768 Report post Posted January 5, 2014 Depends on how the subtitles are coded. If hard coded into the video you can do it by cutting the lower portion of the screen or going to each frame and removing the words. For that you will need software and "Subtitle Edit" I found along with "VirtualDub MSU Subtitle Remover " with a quick google search. Both are free but appear to work in different ways. If not hard coded just remove the srt file. How are you playing the video? If you are playing with VLC just turn them off. There is an option to not play subtitles

eos666 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2014 Believe me when I say that there is NO good way of removing hardcoded subtitles (yet). What you end up with is often worse than having the subtitles themselves. It is very time consumingg and resource intensive. I have experimented with this very thing for days/weeks on end with absolutely no success whatsoever. The only real shot you have is by cropping them out, and if they are placed too high, you could easily crop away half (or more) of the movie. eatmyshorts 201 Report post Posted April 26, 2014 I won't touch HC subs...it messes up the films...so I avoid them at all costs. If they're not HC subs...just turn the subs off with whatever media player you are using. Quite simple really, there are however, lots of alternatives if you wanted to get rid of the subs, if you load the film up into just about any converter they should show up, just untick the box next to them and do your conversion...subs are gone.
